Dayton is known as the birthplace of aviation, so it feels fitting that some of the newest flying technology is now being used to keep its buildings clean. Stealth Pro Wash recently completed a drone exterior cleaning project at The Greater Dayton School, one of the most striking modern buildings in the area, and the results speak for themselves.
The Challenge: A Tall, Modern Building with Lots of Glass
The Greater Dayton School is a multi-story building with large glass curtain walls, colorful accent panels, and a dramatic cantilevered section that hangs out over the ground below. It’s a beautiful design, but it’s not an easy one to clean. Traditionally, a job like this means bringing in a big crew and multiple boom lifts, blocking off parts of the property, and working on site for about a week.
Our Approach: Drone Cleaning
Instead of lifts and ladders, we used a commercial cleaning drone to wash the building’s exterior. For this project we teamed up with Wash Labs Exterior, who piloted and brought the drone, while our team brought the truck, water and window cleaning equipment to support the job from the ground.
The drone carries a tethered hose up to the work area, so it can reach high walls, upper-story windows and tricky architectural features that would be slow or risky to access any other way. From the ground, our team manages the water supply and cleaning solution and keeps the work area safe.
A Week of Work, Done in 2 Days
The biggest difference was speed. A project that would normally take about a week with a full crew and boom lifts was finished in just 2 days. That’s good news for any property owner or facility manager:
- Less time on site means less disruption for students, staff and visitors.
- No heavy boom lifts rolling across lawns, walkways and parking areas.
- Safer work, since nobody has to be lifted several stories into the air.
- Lower cost, because less equipment and less labor go into the job.
Is Drone Cleaning Right for Your Building?
Drone cleaning is a great fit for schools, office buildings, churches, hangars, warehouses and other tall or hard-to-reach commercial properties. If your building has high walls, lots of glass, or features that make lifts difficult to position, a drone can often get the job done faster and with less hassle.
Stealth Pro Wash is based in Miamisburg, Ohio and serves Dayton, Centerville, Kettering, Springboro, Waynesville and the surrounding Miami Valley. Along with drone cleaning, we offer soft wash roof cleaning, house and siding washing, and solar panel cleaning.
